WELCOME TO CLYDEBANK RIVERSIDE STATION: A view of what was known as Clydebank Riverside station which has now been tunred into houses with the exterior of the building remaining untouched and still in its original architectural design. The station was built and opened by the Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway in 1896. The station was a three through platform station with the ticket booking office located on the through platform (the building in the photograph). The station at first was named Clydebank when opened in 1896 and was renamed Clydebank Riverside station on 28th February 1953 and was closed to to passenger traffic on 5th October 1964. This station was one of many stations which were part of the L. & D. Railway to be closed as part of the 'Beeching - Axe'. The station is located next to the new Clydebank College next to new houese which are being built (houses that nowadays are replacing what were railway lines / stations). Notice the original ticket booking office doors and architecture still in place. 30/04/09.
