A photograph of a D.O.O. (Driver Only Operated) reflective mirror installed at the top of the single platform at Chatelherault station looking west towards Hamilton Central. These mirrors enable the driver to look at the passenger doors when calling at the station andsaves him / her from looking out the driver side window. The reflective mirrors are common on a lot of station on the First ScotRail network and train drivers who serve the stations where they are fitted say it is a safer way of checking their train than checking by looking out the side window - the drivers feel much more safe. Another good thing about the mirrors is they are made to show the whole length of a train on the platform clearly without the driver coming across any blind spots (even on a platform bend where you would expect the mirror to be out of focus). 10/10/07. 62.JPG Buy Print |
