In this gallery you will find all of the photographs I have taken / will be taking of the former Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway (part of former Caledonian Railway Company) railway route between Scotstoun West Junction / Scotstoun West station to Partick West station / Partick West Junction - Partick Central - Yorkhill Tunnel. The railway route sectioned between the former Yoker Ferry station (a former station on this section of line west of Scotstoun West station) and Partick Central was known as the Glasgow Riverside Railway and had stations at Yoker Ferry, Scotstoun West, Scotstoun East, Whiteinch Riverside, Partick West and Partick Central. The railway line was a mixed traffic railway line carrying both freight and passenger trains.

The freight traffic which travelled through the line served some of the many former local ship yards located on the River Clyde and other industires. Freight traffic to and from the former Rothesay Docks Branch, the other diverging line at Scotstoun West Junction, also ran past the Glasgow Riverside Railway route.

A photograph taken slightly east from the former Scotstoun East station showing what was a small bridge / viaduct looking east towards the former Whiteinch Riverside station. You can clearly see here what would have been a railway line which consisted of a double trackbed. Notice the old telegraph cable poles which still stand to the present day having been not in use for many since the 1960s. 24/05/09.
